We worked with Tokyo-based German beer company Schmatz to help refresh their brand and create a new series of labels for their debut range of bottled beers.
As well as drawing a new version of their core logo we also introduced hand-drawn typography and promoted a cartoon illustration of the founders to the front of pack, bringing a playful and more personal element to the brands identity.
With the brand keen to promote their German roots we used photography of the Bavarian countryside treated with a digital watercolour process to create bright artwork for the labels.
Different duotone colour palettes were used to differentiate and help identify the three beer types.
