Working with landscape architects LDA Design we developed a brand for Cutting Room Square in Ancoats, Manchester geared to aid public consultation by giving the space a recognisable identity. As well as designing the new logo we also worked on a small arts strategy for the project paying close attention to the current state of the square and its surrounding area.
We took a number of research trips to Ancoats producing a document that outlines our thoughts and recommendations for public art in and around Cutting Room Square which touches on recommendations for materials use as well as suggestions for artistic themes for potential new commissions.
Our research also touched on the disappointing lack of creative solutions with many new developments in the area proffering large expanses of blank wall and steel partition left bare and uninspiring. We want to know who let's these people get away with it?
